New Zealand retro games roundup, October 2026
New this month
Between 1 October and 31 October 2026, 4,937 copies turned up in stock at New Zealand shops we check for the first time. A shop's first full night of reading, and a platform's first full night at a shop, are left out, because everything on them is new to us rather than new to the shelf. The platforms with the most:
- Nintendo Switch: 975 copies
- PlayStation 5: 783 copies
- PlayStation 4: 780 copies
- PlayStation 2: 523 copies
- Xbox 360: 513 copies
Back in stock
3,329 copies came back into stock over the same nights; some have sold again since. Most of them were for:
- PlayStation 2: 1,159 copies
- PC (Microsoft Windows): 714 copies
- PlayStation 3: 414 copies
- PlayStation 4: 180 copies
- Xbox: 164 copies
The Restocked shelf shows what came back in the last week and is still there.
On the shelves now
As of 1 November 2026, the imports shelf holds 123 copies of Japanese releases, and the complete in box shelf holds 7,686 copies. Everything in stock is on the in stock page.
What these figures leave out
We read each shop once a night, and a few October nights went unread: most shops on 11 and 12 October, one shop until 14 October while we had paused reading it, and a handful of single nights at three others. A copy that turned up and sold again entirely inside one of those gaps is not counted here.
