How the stock alerts work (no account needed)

Some games turn up in New Zealand a few times a year, if that. Checking every shop every week is tedious, so on any game's page you can ask us to tell you when a copy appears instead.

Setting one up

On a game's page, choose Email me when one turns up, enter your email, and pick:

  • What you want: complete in box, boxed without the manual, loose, or anything. About half of shop listings don't say what's included, so you can also choose to hear about those.
  • Platform: this one, or, where the game came out on more than one, any platform, and then if you like only one region's releases.
  • Just once, then stop, or keep telling me, at most one email a day.

We then email you to say the alert is on, with a link to stop it. If that email can't be sent, the alert isn't switched on. That way nobody gets an alert email without first getting the one that says how to stop it.

What counts as "in stock"

We read every shop once a night. The alert fires when a copy you asked about is in stock after it wasn't at that shop's previous check: a real arrival, not a copy that has been sitting there all along. If we can't be sure a copy is genuinely new (say, a night where we couldn't read a shop's whole catalogue), we skip it rather than guess. A missed alert is disappointing; a false one sends you on a wasted trip.

How often we'll email you

At most once a day, in the New Zealand morning after the night's check, with everything that turned up for you in one email. We never tell you about the same copy twice, though a repeating alert will tell you again if that copy sells and comes back on a later night.

Stopping it

Every email has a link to stop it or manage your alerts (most mail apps also show a one-click unsubscribe button), and you can delete your address and every alert on it whenever you like. There's no account and no password. An alert that hasn't done anything for twelve months is deleted automatically. The privacy page has the details.
